Emerge XP is partnering with an established, full-service exhibit and event organization that is looking for an experienced Senior Account Manager to lead key client relationships, grow existing business, and bring strategic thinking to trade show, exhibit, and event programs.
This is a highly visible client leadership role for someone who knows how to build trust, anticipate needs, and keep both the big picture and the details moving in the right direction. You’ll work closely with clients and internal teams across creative, project management, production, operations, logistics, and other partners to turn ideas and objectives into successful programs.
The right person brings strong industry experience, sound judgment, and a polished but approachable communication style. Just as important, you know how to become a trusted extension of the client’s team rather than simply manage projects from one event to the next.
Why This Role
This role is built for someone who knows how to strengthen client relationships, uncover growth opportunities, and keep complex programs moving with confidence. At its core, it’s about becoming a trusted partner to the client while ensuring every program is executed at a high level.
You’ll have the opportunity to become deeply embedded in your clients’ trade show and event programs by understanding their brands, business priorities, annual calendars, exhibit assets, budgets, and evolving needs while helping shape strategies that strengthen their programs over time. The role also carries meaningful ownership protecting project profitability, leading cross-functional teams, and navigating the changes and challenges that come with complex live programs.
Responsibilities
- Lead a portfolio of client accounts with responsibility for relationship strength, program execution, retention, and account growth
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients and build relationships grounded in responsiveness, trust, and consistent follow-through
- Develop a strong understanding of each client’s business, brand, event calendar, exhibit program, budget, and long-term goals
- Recognize opportunities to expand existing relationships and bring forward ideas that support the client’s evolving needs
- Partner with clients to shape trade show and event strategies that align with their broader marketing and business priorities
- Work closely with creative, project management, production, operations, logistics, finance, vendors, and show-site partners to keep programs moving successfully
- Guide client presentations, program recommendations, budgets, and proposals in partnership with internal teams
- Maintain oversight of multiple active programs, including timelines, deliverables, priorities, risks, and financial performance
- Keep a strong pulse on client inventory, graphics, exhibit properties, and other assets
- Review completed programs with clients, identify areas for improvement, and help shape future event strategies
- Step in confidently when challenges arise, helping teams make decisions quickly and protect both the client relationship and the quality of the work
- Travel to client meetings, trade shows, and events as required, including occasional extended hours and weekends based on program needs
Requirements
- 7+ years of account management, project management, client services, or related experience within the trade show, exhibit, experiential marketing, event, or branded environment industry
- Strong understanding of the trade show and event lifecycle, including strategy, creative development, production, show services, logistics, and on-site execution
- Demonstrated success leading complex client accounts and developing long-term relationships
- Proven ability to manage multiple programs, budgets, stakeholders, and competing priorities at the same time
- Strong understanding of account growth, project costs, budgets, and profitability
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams, create accountability, and keep work moving without relying on direct authority
- Strong client-facing communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills
- Highly organized with the judgment to recognize what requires immediate attention and what needs a more thoughtful approach
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to stay composed and make sound decisions
- Ability to anticipate challenges and respond with an appropriate sense of urgency
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to work effectively within account and project management systems
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Hospitality, Communications, Marketing, or a related discipline preferred; equivalent relevant experience will be considered
- Ability to travel to client events and trade shows as required
- Ability to work effectively across remote, hybrid, or on-site environments while maintaining strong communication with clients and internal teams
- Residence in Minnesota, the broader Midwest, or the East Coast
