Production Technician, AV, Chicago

Salary: $44K-$54K Annual Equivalent
Location: Chicago
Type: Full-Time On-Site
Position: AV Production Technician

An established supplier serving the exhibit, event, retail, and branded environment industries is seeking a Production Technician to support assembly, product testing, custom production, and order fulfillment. This is a hands-on position for someone who takes pride in accurate work and enjoys seeing a product move from individual components through final preparation and shipment.

The Production Technician will work across several areas of the operation, including assembly, product configuration, quality checks, sample coordination, protective packaging, and warehouse support. The right person will be mechanically inclined, attentive to detail, and comfortable shifting priorities as production needs change.

Why This Role

This role offers more variety than a traditional assembly or warehouse position. You will work with lighting products, controls, custom components, samples, and oversized fixtures while gaining exposure to the full production and fulfillment process.

Your work will have a direct impact on product quality and customer delivery. This team values people who notice the details, handle products carefully, communicate concerns early, and can be counted on to help keep projects moving.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble lighting products, controls, samples, and large-format fixtures using drawings, photographs, parts lists, and project instructions
  • Complete basic setup and IP configuration for connected lighting and control products
  • Perform visual inspections, power checks, functional testing, and configuration reviews before products are packed or shipped
  • Receive, label, document, organize, and route product samples
  • Support custom production projects involving assembly, product modification, staging, and packing
  • Build pallets, crates, and protective packaging for large or fragile fixtures
  • Prepare finished products for shipment, including packaging, labeling, documentation, and staging
  • Load, unload, move, and organize incoming materials, samples, completed products, and work in progress
  • Assist with inventory organization and cycle counts
  • Maintain clean, safe, and organized production and warehouse areas
  • Identify and communicate damaged products, missing components, testing failures, configuration issues, and shipping concerns
  • Support additional production and fulfillment needs as priorities shift

Requirements

  • Experience in production, assembly, manufacturing, warehouse operations, shipping, installation, staging, electrical work, or another hands-on environment
  • Ability to follow written, visual, and verbal instructions accurately
  • Strong attention to detail across assembly, testing, labeling, packaging, and documentation
  • Comfort using hand tools, basic power tools, measuring equipment, and packaging materials
  • Basic computer skills for email, labels, documentation, and product setup
  • Ability to organize work, manage changing priorities, and support multiple areas of the operation
  • Clear communication and sound judgment when identifying product, inventory, quality, or shipping concerns
  • Experience with pallets, crates, material handling, or fragile-product shipping is preferred
  • Familiarity with IP addresses, connected devices, or basic network configuration is helpful
  • Forklift or pallet jack experience is helpful
  • Ability to stand, bend, reach, push, pull, lift, and carry materials throughout the workday
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds independently and handle heavier items with assistance or equipment
