Exhibit + Experiential Designer, Exhibits, Mid-Atlantic

Salary: $75-$115K+ and Relocation Assistance
Location: Mid-Atlantic
Type: Full-Time On-Site
Position: Exhibit + Experiential Designer

Our client is a design forward exhibit design and fabrication firm that helps brands show up with intention on the trade show floor, in permanent environments, and at live activations. Strategy, storytelling, and spatial design sit under one roof, supported by in-house production.

They’re looking for a Senior Experiential / Exhibit Designer who can own the creative arc of a project from the first sketch through final design intent, collaborating with account, strategy, and production teams along the way.

Why This Role

You’ll lead the visual and spatial language for key programs, present directly to clients, and help shape how global and national brands connect with people face-to-face.

If you’re the designer who thinks in big-picture narrative and obsessively sweats the details, this environment will give you the complexity, visibility, and momentum you’ve been seeking.

Responsibilities

  • Concept development for trade show exhibits, branded environments, and live experiential activations

  • Translate brand and campaign strategy into dimensional concepts, mood boards, and initial sketches

  • Develop high-impact 3D designs, renderings, and layouts that clearly communicate the story and flow of the space

  • Present work internally and externally, articulating the “why” behind your decisions to both creative and non-creative stakeholders

  • Partner closely with account, project management, and fabrication teams to ensure concepts are achievable, on budget, and on brand

  • Provide design direction and mentorship to junior and mid-level designers, helping elevate the broader creative output

  • Oversee refinement of design details, materials, lighting, and experience touchpoints from concept through design intent

  • Stay ahead of trends in experiential, architecture, and interactive design—and bring fresh inspiration back to the team

Requirements

  • 5–7+ years of professional experience in exhibit, experiential, environmental, interior, or related 3D design

  • A portfolio that shows original thinking, strong spatial storytelling, and built work (not just school projects)

  • Extensive knowledge of 3D modeling software,  Form-Z and Adobe Creative Suite proficiency

  • Proven ability to own projects from creative brief through final design intent and to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams

  • Comfort presenting directly to clients and guiding them through options, rationale, and recommendations

  • A strategic mindset: you think beyond “pretty” and design with goals, audiences, and behavior in mind

  • Experience working within an agency or studio model with multiple overlapping accounts

  • Familiarity with fabrication materials, construction methods, and production documentation

  • Exposure to interactive, digital, or motion elements within physical spaces

  • Background in Industrial Design, Architecture, Interior Design, or a related discipline
